Jordan Otis currently is a graduate student pursuing a Masters in Vocal Performance. at the University of Redlands in Redlands, California, but Collegedale, TN will always be her home. Before attending the University of Redlands, Jordan received her Bachelors of Music Education from Southern Adventist University. Jordan has taught choir, string orchestra, private lessons, and general music in elementary and secondary settings. She currently teaches private voice lessons in Redlands and Loma Linda, CA.
Although Jordan adores teaching, she first was attracted to singing as a young child because of performing. Throughout her undergraduate studies she performed as a soloist with SAUís jazz band, choirs, and orchestra. A studier not only of music, but also of theatre, she also partook in many dramatic, film, and recording productions; a few of these include Into the Woods (Little Red Riding Hood) and the premiere performance of Courage to Stand (Esther) at the 2009 International Pathfinder Camporee. At the University of Redlands she has participated in master classes with professional artists and will perform the title role of Hanna in The Merry Widow this coming April.
Having played violin since she age four and piano since age eight, Jordan was ensconced in a musical family due to her mother and grandfather. Though singing was not her first instrument, after many home-made "musicals," voice lessons soon were in order! Influential family members along with many music teachers are the musicians that inspired Jordan to pursue music growing up with a fiery passion. Jordan believes music is a gift from God and is so blessed to sing for Him every day. She has come a long way from singing made-up songs on the kitchen table, but you can still see a little bit of that child-like spark in each of her songs if you look closely enough!
Park in the Collegedale Government parking on Swinyar Drive, and walk down the greenway to the Veterans Memorial Park.
